That was so HOT. Out of all the performances from all seasons i’ve watched, this has been the best, most enjoyable one for me. So much so that SECONDS after Cook finished, I YouTubed the performance just so I could watch it again. AMAZING arrangement and vocal of Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” for me, so very enjoyable.
I had heard speculation that the Final 8 of this season’s American Idol was going to sing “Shout to the Lord” during Idol Gives Back. I didn’t think much of it but it ACTUALLY happened. As the closing song nonetheless! And of course with a huge Gospel choir behind them. And they sound great. Where did AI producers come up with this idea??! Perhaps trying to reach a certain demographic (i’ll play the cynical card), or just… because? And yet no surprise that they cut in Ben Stiller afterwards throwing around a few amusing bleeps.
